Book Review

Recently I had the opportunity to read Anthony DeStefano's delightful new children's book, "This Little Prayer of Mine". It has received praise from many, including Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King, Danae Dobson, daughter of Dr. James Dobson, as well as Pat and Shirley Boone.

As a mom, I am always on the lookout for captivating and spiritually sound books for my own kids and Anthony's book did not disappoint! Even my 6 year old daughter enjoyed reading it along with me.

This Little Prayer of Mine is written in simple poetry form and the tender illustrations by Mark Elliott compliment it perfectly. It was a pleasure to read and I would recommend this book for your child or as a gift for that special little one in your life!

A special thanks to Anthony for the privilege to review this fantastic little book ~

American Idol Top 12 Guys

The Top 12 Guys

Todrick Hall - "Since You've Been Gone" - I'm always for the Idols totally changing up a song to be their own which is why I loved David Cook so much. But this was a little rough in that it really didn't not showcase his fantastic voice. And btw, the boy needs to lose the M.J. gloves please and thank you.

Aaron Kelly - "Here Comes Goodbye" - Oh heck yah for some country y'all!! :) Really really liked this little guy from the beginning...anyone see a flashback of David Archuletta when he started? Aaron is such a sweet guy, a good seed and wow, his voice. Mmm. He's on the brink...we will see more of him for sure. Def one of my fav guys!

Jermaine Sellers - "Get Here" - I'm gonna try to be nice about this but it's hard. This guy has the pipes and sounded great when he sang M.J. but I'm not a fan of his spin of this song. Kinda sorta eeww. I think it could have been great but it wasn't.

Tim Urban - "Apologize" - Hmm. Well, I love this song but I didn't think it was as horrible as the judges thought. Poor guy. He is good, I think and he'll be around to redeem himself next week. btw: totally LOVE Ellen as a judge...I so do not miss Paula!!!

Joe Munoz - "You and I" - He looked great tonight and seemed super comfortable on the stage. The music seemed ahead of him or something and sometimes it was a little hard to understand him? I don't know. Again, let's hope he can give us a better performance next week.

Tyler Grady - "American Woman" - Anyone remember when Bo Bice sang this? Yah, this was no comparison. Wow, I thought this was gonna be so much better than it was but uh, no. I mean I love the whole throw back 70's vibe but he's needs to have the chops to back the performance up.

Lee Dewyze - "Chasing Cars" - Like him. Yup. I really dig this guy's unique sound and love the guitar too! Aww, he got a tear in his eye...bonus points.

John Park - "God Bless the Child" - I don't get it. Can't even tell if he's good or not. I don't know what to say really.

Michael Lynche - "This Love" - I LOVE THIS GUY. He's got an awesome voice and personality and come on, he's a new daddy?? Aww. I liked this performance but we've seen him much much better. I don't know if the song just wasn't a good fit or too fast or what. I don't think he needed the guitar either tonight. But he's a keeper fa'sure.

Alex Lambert - "It's a Wonderful World" - M.U.L.L.E.T. Ahem. Such a cute guy however this performance was slightly awkward. It just never really took off. But I love the tone of his voice, wow. He's only 16 for pity sake!!

Casey James - "Heaven" - Ok, this was yum. Too bad Kara kept making him smile that big goofy smile... This was pretty close to perfect, great choice and prob one of the best performances of the night.

Andrew Garcia - "Sugar We're Going Down" - Waited for this guy the WHOLE night!!! He's awesome but this performance wasn't as great as he is. But that's ok, he'll be back. Wow, this guy is def. my FAV of the season so far. Love Love Him.

American Idol Top 12 Girls

The Top 12 Girls

Paige Miles – “It’s All Right Now” – I really did not remember this girl at all from Hollywood week but she has a great smile and is truly likeable. I wasn't really crazy about the song, at times it seemed the key was too low for her at points. But she's got some def talent!

Ashley Rodriguez – “Happy” – In Hollywood week I really liked her version of 'Battlefield'. She's got a great look but this was def too big and too recent of a hit for her to grapple with on her first night out on the stage. Some of the notes just sounded flat to me but we'll count that off as nerves.

Janell Wheeler – “What About Love” – This girl has great potential I think. I'm not sure what was up with the background singers tonite but they were not in sync with the Idols or vice versa, something was whacko. Anyways, Janell is so pretty and likeable I think she'll be around for a bit. This just wasn't the best song choice for her.

Lilly Scott – “Fixing A Hole” – Never heard of this Beetles song but ok. Lilly is incredibly different and unique in her own little niche but not annoyingly so. I like her folky sound and the spin she gave to this song.

Katelyn Epperly – “Oh, Darlin’” – What?? I don't know, I am just not getting what the judges are saying we must be hearing two different shows tonite. I didn't like this, thought it was old and just weird but whatever. I do think she's got star potential and has a great presence on stage.

Haeley Vaughn – “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” – I really really liked this girl in Hollywood week. Didn't care for this version of the song and the whole outfit with the red guitar was kinda bizarre for me. BUT I like her alot and I def think she can do better than this!

Lacey Brown – “Landslide” – LOVE HER. She's beautiful with great vocals! I loved her own little take on this song and did not think it depressing at all. She's super cute and one of my favs so far.

Michelle Delamor – “Falling” – Hmm, not a great choice of songs either. I always cringe when right out of the gate these Idols try to tackle these incredibly well known songs but pop stars. Anyways, she's got a great voice and is very pretty but I HATED her outfit, I'm just sayin'.

Didi Benami – “The Way I Am” – Oh, I really really like her! She's got a great vibe and I can't wait to hear more from her.

Siobhan Magnus – “Wicked Game” – This is an interesting girl. I def liked the female version of this song and was pleasantly surprised.

Crystal Bowersox – “Hand In My Pocket” – Can we just say Holy Harmonica??! Wow. She is so real so believable. I'm always rooting for the the Mamas! :)

Katie Stevens – “Feelin’ Good” – This girl stood out in my mind from Hollywood week as well. WOW, the potential in this 16 year old...lookout. Cute outfit but I kinda agreed with judges in the song was too old for her. She's a contender folks.

~ Ok, that said...honestly, I REALLY waiting for guys night!! But it was the first night on the stage for these girls but I think they are going to need to step it up to keep up with the boys for sure. What did y'all think??

100th Day

I just love the little elementary school my cherubs go to...they are always doing some fun celebration day for the kids to enjoy! This past week they celebrated the 100th Day of School, a little delayed by the snow but regardless they celebrated! It's always fun to try to figure out a creative project to take in for this day, we had alot of fun with Chloe's this year. Our little cockapoo, Quincey, is Chloe's best bud so it was very fitting to do a project surrounding Q. A sweet mom sent me these picts and I was thrilled...aren't they soo adorable?!

Chloe's shirt featured Quincey and 100 paw prints! :D
