A trip to D.C.

Living in Maryland has its many advantages :D One cool thing is that we're really close to DC and when we have visitors, DC is somewhere we enjoy taking people to see! When Joel's parents were here, they wanted to see DC again because no matter how many times you go, there's ALWAYS something new to see! :) We had a great time with them, as always...here's some picts from our day.

This is at the "new" WWII memorial...it was awesome! There were two tall towers on each side, one for the Pacific and one for the Atlantic (you can see one to the far left of the above pict). All around on both sides were smaller pillars with each State's name and a wreath. On the opposite side of where we were standing was a Wall of Stars, memorial to our fallen heroes.

A clearer view of the WWII memorial

Had to have a picture in front of the Monument...me and Mom in law! :)

It was my second time touring the Holocaust Museum, but I tell you...it hit me just as hard as the first time I went through. It takes about 3 hours to go through the whole thing, each floor. Man, it was sobering...there were tons of people the day we went and they were all silent. What can you say in a place like that? If y'all are ever in DC, this is a must see. The picture above is the Eternal Flame lit in memory of those many many ones who lost their lives in the Holocaust...may they never be forgotten. (there were all Scripture verses carved into the walls in this memorial room)

What you need when you go to DC...a BIG HONKING MAP!! :D

Dyl really wants to do the museums this summer and I was hoping to already get there, but it looks like it may be the end of this month. Maybe we can meet up there and hang out with the kids.
