A Book Review :)

My 1st finished book off my Spring Reading Thing 2007 List!! :)
A Time to Dance, a story of reconciliation by Karen Kingsbury (Women of Faith Fiction)...what a fantastic book to start off with! The title was taken from the verse Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven...a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance."
Let me start with the introduction off of Karen's website~
"John and Abby were the perfect couple, but they are about to lose
it all: On the verge of having an affair, John is no more the man Abby married
than she is the long ago girl of his dreams. They make the sad decision to
divorce. When they gather their three children to tell them the news, their
daughter makes an announcement of her own: she's getting married that summer.

Determined not to ruin their daughter's season of happiness, Abby and
John secretly agree to put their divorce plans on hold. But as the wedding
nears, they wonder: Is it possible to find joy, after all these years, and
perhaps the time...to dance?"
This little 373 page paperback is a quick read and it will have you crying and taking a deeper and closer look at your attitude, heart and response to God and His promptings in your marriage. The truth is, any one of us (Believers or unbelievers) can get to the point in our lives and marriages where we can't tell up from down and we wonder, "how did we get here"?
I was captivated by this book and the way Karen vividly and honestly weaves the story of a marriage between two friends that started out "perfect" and ended up in shambles because of ONE wrong decision after another. That is truly all it takes, y'all. One choice at a time...leads to another choice and another and pretty soon we're so far off track we aren't in the same zip code let alone the same state. Sometimes we ignore the Lord's voice and become so deaf to the Holy Spirit and so deceived that we think we're are doing what is right.
Why is it so difficult for us to be "quick to hear and slow to speak and slow to become angry"? Why is it so difficult for us to admit when we're wrong and to ask forgiveness? Why is it so difficult for us to forgive and to love? You know with Christ as our life...these things ARE possible as we let Him live His life in and through us. God wants nothing more than for our marriages to be a gorgeous reflection of Him and His love. Satan wants nothing more than for our marriages to shrivel up and die leaving behind broken hearts, broken dreams and broken children.
I'd encourage all y'all to read this book when you have the chance! My heart was so challenged and encouraged when I was done. Enjoy! :)
