Our first day in NYC was spent visiting and touring the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I was sooo glad that we had 2 days to spend total because we really needed a whole day for these 2 amazing places! As awe inspiring as Lady Liberty was, wow Ellis Island was too...wow! It was incredible to think about the masses of people that came to America and their first sight was the Statue...and Ellis Island greeted them. We got the audio tour as well and were inthralled with the stories of those who had come to America in the hopes of a better life for themselves and their families.
The building at Ellis Island was beautiful in and of itself...
Belongings of those who came to start anew...
fascinating to see the many cultures represented!
This is one of my fav unique viewpoints...
Just look...look at the luggage left behind of those weary travelers.
The many faces that make up America...
We found what we think is one of our relatives on my dad side...
it was pretty dang incredible seeing his name there in black and white.
The pictures on the walls at Ellis were fascinating...
Just look at this family...wow!
