A word to the wise

Shopping with cherubs is an adventure to say the least...but going to the ladies room while shopping with cherubs is an ever bigger adventure!  Especially with my Chloe, you see because Chloe likes Mama to go with her into the teeny tiny little bathroom stalls.  Oh so much fun!  Today the urge struck Chloe...right smack in the middle of the toy aisle in 'Tar-jay' a.k.a my fav store.  So Mama did what any self respecting Mama who is shopping for a gift waaay back in the back 90 of the store would do...Mama told her to hold it.  Yes, she did.  And hold it Chloe did for about 15 minutes until she was doing that funny little hoppy dance.  Mama knew then that time had run out for her shopping agenda.  Off we went running to the front of the store to burst into the ladies room heading straight for the nearest handicapped stall cause they are big enough to fit Mama and Chloe.  Whew!  Crisis averted...right?!  Not.  Chloe takes her turn first of course then Mama decides, well better go now while we're right here.  Great idea!  Mama takes her turn while Chloe struggles to button her shorts...you see where this is headed.  She struggles and fusses with that darn button until she stumbles back into the stall door upon which the door flings WIDE OPEN revealing Chloe's Mama in all her glory for all the world to see.  Of course Mama couldn't quite reach the blessed door seeing as how she was occupado and all.  A very nice elderly lady very discreetly pushed the door back closed for us.  Thank you very much ma'am.  Ahem.  Then Chloe tried to lock the door for Mama but only succeeded in opening the door again...to which Mama very calmly and quietly urged her to "LEAVE THE DOOR ALONE"!!!!!  Ahem.

When all was said and done and Chloe's Mama was retelling the story in the car to her Mama busting a gut over how funny they must have looked...Chloe got all choked up and said, "Sorry Mama it was just an accident".  Don't you think I deserve some kind of Mama of the Year award??!

So a word to the wise...when helping your little cherub in the ladies room, make SURE the door is securely fastened!!

Oh my gosh, that is my worst nightmare. Every time I'm doing my business with the kids in the same stall, I just keep a very close eye on them and say "DON'T YOU TOUCH THAT DOOR." It's a big fear of mine.

You did a great job telling this story! I do hope it NEVER happens again!

been there, done that - only difference was the gender of the room and the characters involved...

=)

Oh the joys...;) I THREATEN my children to stay completely clear of the stall door...because inevitably, they jostle the handle just enough to make it open, EVERY time!
