Bye Bye Debt

It's been 2 1/2 years since we flew home from PNG.  You would not believe what 4 one-way tickets cost...a shocking close to $9,000.  Yeah, ok pick yourself off the floor now.  Anyways, it's taken us a while to pay this debt off but slowly but surely we have done it.  Today we paid the LAST PAYMENT and we are DEBT FREE!!!!!  So we're doing the happy dance today...like the guy above.  But seriously, we're so stoked and just giving the praise to God because He's faithfully provided for our needs and has gotten us to where we are today.

So if you want to celebrate with me...leave me a COMMENT and tell me the best financial decision you've made so far and how it made you feel!  Come on...make a debt-free girl happy, ok??!  :D  Thanks y'all!!

Feels good to pay stuff off... Right now, we have massive medical bills - they get up to around 11K after each trip to NYC to see the doctors, have tests, etc... and then we finally are able to pay them down, and almost off, before the next one hits 3 months later...

Very proud you are debt free... I believe debt is much like being enslaved to the lender... so...

Free at last, free at last....

Congratulations Kari!! Being debt free is a wonderful thing. Well, I don't technically know. :-) I still owe on my student loans...and our house, but I don't count that. ;-) The best financial decision I have made is to not use my credit cards for more than I could truly pay off. I don't like to carry a balance, but if I do, I have to know that I absolutely could pay it off if need be. Congrats again!

WOW! What an accomplishment!! I think that is one of the HARDEST things to do (besides loosing weight!). So much easier to get IN debt than to get OUT of debt. What a great job...way to persevere. I hate debt and even a little bit bothers me, but somehow it always seems to accumulate. We are currently in a "get out of debt" plan that has built up over the past several months. I'll have to use the little dancing man when we make our last payment. Bravo you!

I think the best financial decision we ever made was to tithe regularly to our local church. There are a myriad of other choices we've made off and on through the years, but when we stick to that one and place it first on the list of checks to write, all the other decisions feel simpler and more black and white for us.
