Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day – Celebrating the Green

"St. Patrick is believed to have driven the snakes from Ireland. Once a pagan himself, St. Patrick is one of Christianity's most widely known figures.

The modern secular holiday is based on the original Christian saint's feast day also thought to be the date of the saint's death. In 1737, Irish immigrants to the United States began observing the holiday publicly in Boston and held the first St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City in 1766.

Today, the tradition continues with people from all walks and heritages by wearing green, eating Irish food, and attending parades. St. Patrick's Day is bursting with folklore; from the shamrock to the leprechaun and to pinching those that are not wearing green."

In time for St. Patrick's Day here are Diablo Verde shakes. The first sip you take you think, "That's good. But there's something different in there . . . what is it?"

And after five minutes of thought--and knowing it'll drive you crazy if you don't find out--you ask..."Avocado" they say.

Who would have thought? You'd never guess it was avocado but that luscious greeny goodness gives it a certain smoothness and kick that sets this apart from other plain jane smoothie-style drinks. You'll love it.

1/8 c pina colada syrup
1/4 c kiwi syrup
lime sherbet
1/3-1/2 of a banana
1/4 of an avocado
crushed ice
sprite
whipped cream for topping

Place all the ingredients (except the whipped cream) in a blender and blend until it's smooth. Top with whipped cream and enjoy. I haven't tried this yet but I'm dying to!! :)

Happy St. Patty's Day! I remembered for Hubby and for J, but sadly I forgot to wear green or put the baby in green. It just doesn't seem as fun when you aren't working in a restaurant or going to school. There is always next year ;). And that shake sounds yummy, I may have to try it out.
