In March, Joel got really sick. At first we thought it was just the flu or malaria...but when it continued to get more painful for him, we took him to the Australian doctor in town. He immediately thought it could be Joel's gallbladder. We got blood work done and then the Dr suggested we got to Moresby (PNG's capital) to get another test done to see for sure. So we went for a long weekend down to Port Moresby to have a scan done of his gallbladder. The technican said that the gallbladder was so full of "sludge" that he couldn't even see if there were any blockages or stones. It was then we made our decision to fly back home for Joel to have surgery.
